Last night it was very somber. It rained almost all day, so the site was muddy, and it was cold.
Shawn worked on installing 1/2"x6" bolts in the windows. He had to drill a hole on the side of the buck and push the bold through, so when the concrete fills the wall, the bold will serve as an anchor to hold the window buck in place. He got all of those done. Sunday night we began dropping in the 9 foot 2 in pieces of vertical rebar for reinforcing the wall. These need to be at 18" on center so there's going to be over 130 vertical bars in the wall, not counting the garage steel.
Last night after Evan went to bed I joined Shawn and we went around and tied all of the vertical bars so they won't shift while the concrete is poured. We have most of the basement done, with the exception of 11 bars in the main area, and we still need to do the porch area and the garage. We talked to the contractor and his other job is running late, so he has scheduled the pour for friday.
Today I'm going to take off work early and go home and cut all of the vertical rebar pieces that we need for the garage and the porch basement walls, so that Shawn can drop them in this afternoon, and then I'll help him tie them after Evan goes to bed. Then we need to finish adding foam adhesive to join the common seam and put little pieces of wood to brace them.
The contractor is supposed to come out today or tomorrow for a pre-pour check and that will give us Thursday to do any miscellanous things we need to do. So hopefully this is it!
Here's a picture of Evan. This was on Sunday afternoon, we were playing in the truck.
