Preparing for the Weekend ahead

Last night we double checked rebar quantities. We will need extra rebar for the horizontals, and we double checked the window opening sizes for reinforcement requirement. Because of our design, the window opening is bigger than the actual window, and that change requires the use of stirrups in the concrete above the window openings to make sure it can span the opening without a problem. So Shawn went to Webster City to pick up some more rebar. We found their prices to be almost $4 cheaper than around here for a 20 ft bar. We wish we would have known that when we ordered the first truckload, but that's just the way things go.

Shawn also went to Indianola to pick up some lumber we are borrowing from our contractor for the scaffolding that will go around the basement so that we can work on the higher rows of block.
That Orange Crush has come in very handy.

Here's a picture of all of the bucks finished. Shawn's in the next picture working on finishing the last buck. I took this as I left for work this morning.

Tonight we will get the window locations marked and probably start on the third row and begin placing the bracing along the wall.

Please pray for us for the weather to remain good, and for the work to continue as smoothly as it can.
